Privacy policy

Pateway is software that merchants use to run their own networks of payment agents. This policy explains what personal data Pateway handles and why.

1. Who we are

This policy is issued by Pateway. For data about agents and their customers, the merchant decides why the data is collected and Pateway processes it on the merchant's instructions. For merchant staff accounts and this website, Pateway is responsible.

In this policy, a merchant is a business that uses Pateway, an agent is a person or outlet a merchant has approved to collect and pay on its behalf, and a customer is the person who pays or gets paid.

2. What we collect

Merchant staff: name, email and sign-in history. Agents: name, phone number, national ID images and the result of the check, payment accounts, deposits and balances, and a Telegram account if the agent links one. Customers: only what a merchant puts on an order, such as the amount and, for payouts, the recipient's account. Every order also stores the transaction ID and screenshots uploaded as proof.

Merchants also give us their business registration documents and the details of the person responsible for the business. Our servers record technical request data, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, to keep the service secure. This website itself does not ask you for any personal data.

3. How we use it

To match orders with agents, verify agents, prevent fraud, keep ledgers and statements, send verification codes by SMS or Telegram, and send notifications that people turn on in their browser.

We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

The merchant an agent belongs to sees that agent's profile, identity documents, orders, proofs and balances. Merchants never see the data of other merchants or their agents.

Service providers that run parts of Pateway for us, only for that purpose: Amazon Web Services and TiDB Cloud for hosting and storage, an SMS provider for verification codes, Telegram for verification codes and merchant group notifications when an account is linked, Ably for live updates in the browser, the push service of your browser for notifications you turn on, and an error monitoring service.

Authorities, when the law requires it.

5. Where it is stored

Pateway data is stored with Amazon Web Services and TiDB Cloud in the Mumbai, India region. Identity documents and proof screenshots are kept in private storage, separated by merchant. Data travels over encrypted connections.

6. How long we keep it

Orders, proofs, ledger entries and the activity log are kept for as long as the merchant uses Pateway, because statements, balances and corrections depend on them, and after that for as long as financial record-keeping laws require.

Ledger entries are never edited or erased. A mistake is corrected with a reversing entry. When an account is removed it can no longer be used, but its history stays so that past orders and balances still add up.

7. Your choices

Agents can update their payment accounts, PIN and language in the agent app, and can turn browser notifications on or off. Merchant staff can update their name, password and two-step verification in the merchant console.

To get a copy of your data, correct it or ask for it to be deleted, contact the merchant you work with. The merchant decides on the request and Pateway carries it out on the merchant's instructions. Records such as confirmed orders and ledger entries cannot be deleted while the law or open balances require them.

8. Cookies

This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers.

The merchant console and the agent app use cookies to keep you signed in, protect forms and remember your language and time zone. They are needed for the service to work and are not used for tracking.
